Trick out your cookies in 3 easy steps

Looking for a fun new way to serve your mini cookies? Our special three step blog will show you how.


1. Turn your decorated (and dried!) mini cookies bottom side up on a flat surface. Don’t worry Monsieur Pumpkin, this won’t hurt a bit!

2. Melt 1/2 cup of chocolate and place in a small bowl. Candy coating chocolate is great for this technique as it dries very firm.

3. Dip lollipop sticks into the chocolate and press onto the back of your cookies. If the design of the cookie raises the stick too much, balance it on a pencil or chopstick while it hardens to keep the stick from falling off the cookie. Let the chocolate harden at room temperature for 2-3 hours or overnight before serving.

Voilà Monsieur Pumpkin, you are definitely Whoooo’s Who and the cat’s meow!

    This is fun to do with kids (if you are very tolerant of a mess! ;-D). I have fond memories of decorating cookies with my nieces and nephews when they were younger. I pre-coated the cookies to save time, used rubber bands on the ends of the decorating bags to prevent backflow (can also use heavy zip-lock bags with the corner cut off), set out bowls of colored sugars and decors, and let them have at it! Alas, they’re mostly in high school and college now, and don’t have much time to play with “Aunt Sissy” any more; guess this will have to wait untill Christmas break. Of course, they are more than happy (and always appreciative) to eat the goodies I bake and send!

    I love this website!! It is absolutely without a doubt the BEST website for baking, the recipes and step by step instructions are awesome.     Oh YEAH! MJ and her great ideas!!!!!!! Don’t get many trick-r-treatreaters coming to our door, but hey, the ghosts that live her along with the furry wonder will surely be LOVING THESE!!!!!!!!!!! A definate TO DO! So many TO DO’S – you folks are really keeping me baking! LOL! But that I suppose is the point, isn’t it! Good JOB!

    Do you have any suggestions for novices like me on how to efficiently and neatly frost the cookies?

    In addition to all of MaryJane’s tips; Go slow. Decorating is not a speed event. in the beginning plan on using 2 times the amount of space you think you are going to need. Lastly, don’t forget to breath. You’ll know if you are not breathing if the bag starts to shake. Frank @ KAF.
